Allen Meadows Burghound 90

2005 Domaine Jean et Jean-Louis Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin) Burghound, 1/1/2008, 1st Quarter, 2008, Allen Meadows (web) 90 with dark berry fruit and underbrush aromas that can also be found on the round, supple and nicely detailed middle weight flavors underpinned by fine tannins on the wonderfully long and dusty finish. I wrote last year that "this may very well surprise to the upside as I frankly expected more from it given the high quality of the vintage and this wine's usual standards" and it has in fact done just that. Highly recommended for a villages level wine. (drink starting 2012)

Stephen Tanzers International Wine Cellar 90

2005 Domaine Jean & Jean-Louis Trapet Gevrey Chambertin Ostrea Medium red. Ripe aromas of wild red berries. Sappy, dense and sweet; full for this cuvee but with lovely energy and inner-mouth tension. The wine's brisk fruit flavors outlast its firm tannins on the back. I'd wait a good five years on this one. 90
