Allen Meadows Burghound 91

2006 Bouchard Père et Fils Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru) Burghound, 4/1/2008, 2nd Quarter, 2008, Allen Meadows (web) 91 A deft touch of wood frames ripe of red berry fruit aromas that possess several intriguing dimensions that include minerality, earthiness and a hint of the sauvage that continues onto the rich, full and powerful flavors that are tautly muscular that possesses fine phenolic maturity on the energetic and wonderfully long finish. This is a big but focused wine that should be capable of aging over the next 25 years. (drink starting 2015)

Stephen Tanzers International Wine Cellar 89

2006 Bouchard Pere et Fils Pommard Rugiens Good medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, iron and smoked meat. A broad but lively midweight, with supple flavors of red berries, musky brown spices, leather, smoke and earth. The substantial dusty tannins call for some patience. This has tightened up since I tried it from barrel, but it has the power to reward aging. 89
