Allen Meadows Burghound 91

2006 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny) Burghound, 1/1/2009, 1st Quarter, 2009, Allen Meadows (web) 91 A very pretty and refined red berry fruit nose that is very pinot in character leads to pure, precise and seductive mouth coating flavors that possess good density and ample backend minerality where chewy but not inelegant tannins are waiting. This is quite precise yet utterly seductive. Absolutely lovely and the influence of the 1ers is perhaps more evident than it normally is as this boxes well above its weight in 2006. (drink starting 2014)

John Gilman View from the Cellar 88-89

2006 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny) View From the Cellar, 11/1/2007, Nov/Dec 2007, John Gilman 88-89 The 2006 Chambolle AC from Comte de Vogüé is a lovely and very promising example of village wine. The nose offers up a pretty and perfumed mélange of red berries, cherries, a bit of orange zest, lovely minerality, a touch of vanillin oak and a very pronounced topnote of roses. On the palate the wine is medium-full, tangy and quite shapely, with lovely mid-palate depth, modest tannins, sound acids and lovely length and tang on the finish. The finish closes with a note of cocoa from the new oak, but overall this is one of the most attractive vintages of Chambolle villages from the Comte de Vogüé in several years. And keep in mind that it is only bound to get better, as the young vine Musigny that typically gets blended into the village wine is not yet part of the cuvée. It will drink well early, but also possesses the structure to age gracefully for a fifteen to twenty years. (drink 2010-2030)
