Allen Meadows Burghound 90

2007 Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues) Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Narbantons (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru) Burghound, 4/1/2009, 2nd Quarter, 2009, Allen Meadows (web) 90 This too displays an ample amount of Savigny character with a pronounced earthiness to the ripe and plumy fruit aromas cut with a touch of vegetal that adds nuance before continuing onto the concentrated and balanced medium-bodied flavors blessed with plenty of dry extract that renders the supporting tannins almost invisible. As such, this will be approachable young yet age well too. Lovely juice. (drink starting 2013)

John Gilman View from the Cellar 92+

Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru) View From the Cellar, 1/1/2009, Jan/Feb 2009, John Gilman 92+ In what is a constant them in the Pavelot cellars this year, the Narbantons, which can be a rather ornery wine when young in more structured vintages, is all perfume and lace out of the blocks and really is an exceptional bottle in the making. The bouquet is deep and very vibrant, as it jumps from the glass in a blaze of black raspberries, pomegranate, blood orange, a complex base of soil tones, woodsmoke, a bit of Savigny spice and a deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, long and tangy, with modest tannins, excellent focus and a very long, complex finish that closes with a distinct note of stone minerality that lifts the wine on the backend. Fine juice. (drink 2013-2035)
