Allen Meadows Burghound 91-94

2007 Domaine Pinson Frères Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos (France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru) Burghound, 10/1/2008, 4th Quarter, 2008, Allen Meadows (web) 91-94 Somewhat ironically, given that this is a grand cru, the wood is much more discreet here and allows the white flower, oyster shell, sea breeze and hints of saline to shine while sliding into serious, structured and very firm soil-driven flavors that explode on the gorgeously long, bone dry finish. A strikingly good and classically styled wine. (drink starting 2014)

Stephen Tanzers International Wine Cellar 91

2007 Domaine Pinson Freres Chablis Les Clos (vinified in new oak, with 80% new barrels used for the elevage; bottled in January of 2009) Bright yellow. Sexy, nuanced nose combines musky white truffle, orange blossom and spices. Dense and fine-grained, with very good lemony depth to the middle palate and considerable energy. The silkiest of these 2007s, but sound mineral support lends firmness to the back end. In spite of all the new oak, this one comes across as brighter and less obviously wood-influenced than a couple of Pinson's premier crus thanks to its superior material. 91
